BIRCH STREET INITIATIVE

A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT

Birch Street Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides individuals in the Denver metro community with direct access to support services, programs, tools, and resources to meaningfully improve their lives. 

 

Through a network of experienced partners, Birch Street Initiative serves individuals who face challenges to securing stable employment. These challenges may include past experience with the justice system, substance use, homelessness or life challenge. Birch Street partners with a network of experienced providers to offer job skill and equipment training, job placement, and support services such as housing, food security, health care, identification, clothing, and transportation.

Community partners include Colorado Village Collaborative, Denver Housing Authority, Ready-to-Work/Bridge House, Breakthrough, CrossPurpose, Tribe Recovery Homes, Second Chance Center, Life-Line Colorado and growing! â€‹

VISION

Birch Street Initiative seeks to: 

  • Address critical physical needs that are obstacles to gainful employment

  • Reduce the negative impact of recidivism

  • Shift perception about employing individuals with justice history, substance use and experience with homelessness

  • Prepare workforce for careers in custodial services and commercial maintenance 

  • Positively contribute to the economic vitality of our community through workforce development and job placement
